Due to short days and how busy we are in the shooting season, training classes are suspended until the Spring.
Training and private tuition
At Breezybrook Gundogs we can provide a variety of training requirements for you and your dog. We specialise in helping handlers train their own dogs and provide guidance and assistance with specific problems.
Puppy Lessons
There is no set time to start training your gun dog puppy; in fact from the time you bring it home it is advisable to instil “best practice”. We can help you get your puppy off to a positive and rewarding start in its working life, providing information from feeding and housing through to do’s and don’ts, equipment, early retrieving and hunting stimulation. We can advise you what behaviour to expect from your puppy as it matures, helping you to form a strong bond at an early age.
Lessons for young puppies are for approx 30-40 minutes each time.
Starting with the basics, we can assess you and your dog and provide a programme of training to take you forward, helping you with specific training issues or just assisting you to move on with your preferred type of working. Introduction of handling and retrieving instincts will encourage your dog to go about its task with confidence and enthusiasm. Be it general training, working tests, beating or picking up.
Lessons are for approx 1 hour.
Following on from the basics, we can assist you with more advanced training to gradually introduce your dog to a more varied working environment. Teaching your dog to remain focused and steady when working with distractions, through to the introduction of shot and cold game. Handlers and dogs are encouraged to work at their own pace.
Lessons are for approx 1 hour.
Introduction to Picking Up days
For the novice handler who wants to learn more about picking up.
We arrange a date for you to accompany Jacquie on a shoot day to see what actually takes place and to learn what to do and what not to do!
Dates and places limited.
